Deadzone Team Builder

Free Use Deadzone Team Builder

Hi All,

I have created a Deadzone Team Builder for use on single games and campaigns. Features are printing, PDF etc with more functionality for campaign management coming. Easy and secure login for team saving functionality with Facebook. With a view to add google login in the near future.

http://deadzone-grich.rhcloud.com/

It is currently hosted at the above URL but if it gains enough traction I will be able to afford it a proper domain.

Any and all feed back is appreciated.

Rich

    1. Thank you. It took some effort but I think it was worth it. Let me know if you find anything wrong or if you think it could benefit from additional features.

  2. I really appreciate the time you put into it. The league I'm in is using it to kick off our rosters. That's the only functionality I've used so far, but it's great just for that.

I love being able to rename models and edit fields. It means your tool has a work around immediately after FAQ's before you can update the rosters on the backend.

I have noticed a couple minor things. Steel Warrior Specialists in Forge Fathers should be able to take Hailstorm Autocannons, but that option wasn't available under weapons for that model.

The site doesn't remove the default ranged weapon when you purchase a ranged weapon option for a model. I didn't try this with melee weapons.

All in all, I'm still very impressed.

    1. Hi Nick,

Deleted your last comment in error when trying to reply.... oppss

There was bits about replace default and drag and drop. With regards to replacing default thought about this in different ways and not 100% sure on how to do it yet as I'm not 100% sure how its supposed to work. Pistols dont replace anything but for everything else does any weapon replace all defaults? And if you have more that one default do you get to choose which is replaced? does a new RF weapon replace only the default RF and same for all ranged? Really Wasnt sure so left it for now. Maybe I'll let the user decide if the weapon is removed or not??

Drag and drop stuff will need to look into, there are a few widgets I can bolt in user angular so there must be something.

    2. Hey Rich,

I have some ideas on both fronts. For the sorting, I saw this jsfiddle example - http://jsfiddle.net/g/hKYWr/ I haven't worked with Angular, but I have worked with knockoutJs.

The rules are a bit wonky for replacing weapons. I came up with about 10 use cases between adding and removing weapons, a couple of which involve hard points. That's a little complicated to write out here, but I do have a suggestion which would greatly simplify all of it:

Make each equipped weapon name a link to display your weapon options popup. The user can click the weapon they want to replace, and the popup displays. When they select a weapon upgrade, the upgrade is added to the model and the default weapon remains, but greyed out with strike-through or in parenthesis to indicate it's been replaced. The replaced weapon should not display when viewing the Strike Team, only while editing.

You could keep the current weapons link for cases like Hardpoints, and models which have a Fight value, but no melee weapon to replace

Models are only supposed to be able to replace a single ranged weapon for a ranged weapon, and a single melee weapon for a melee weapon, but that could be a little tough to enforce.

Hope the ideas help. I sent a friend request when I saw Jon Peletis mention you in Deadzone Fanatics. I'm playing in his league. If you want to chat more, or if I can help at all, feel free to hit me up there too.

      Best wishes,
      Nick

  3. Hey, love your tool. I've written 2 online army builders myself and used a number of other ones and yours is by far the best. I have one hopefully minor feature request.

When you choose the show abilities, it gives a great list the descriptions of any abilities that are on models in your army. It doesn't include any of the 'abilities' that are attached to the weapons you've selected. Would it be possible to include those in the abilities list as well? Thanks for an amazing tool!

    1. Heya, thank you very much for the feedback. I thought I had sorted that but haven't worked on it in a while. Will have a look and see whats going on. Have been meaning to do some more work on this to improve campaign upgrading rather than having to manually edit individuals.

      Thanks Rich

    2. Hi Had a look, could you tell me the specific Weapons and Abilities? I tried a couple of weapons for my enforcer teams and adds abilities for weapons as expected. Might be a mismatch in the spelling or something. This is something I need to sort at the DB level in future and get a proper relation ship table sorted.

  4. Hi, im getting a login error when logging in to Aftermath using Facebook, any ideas??
Tried using two different PCs but same problem occurs, error reads...
"URL Blocked: This redirect failed because the redirect URI is not whitelisted in the app’s Client OAuth Settings. Make sure Client and Web OAuth Login are on and add all your app domains as Valid OAuth Redirect URIs."

    1. All Fixed I had changed the Valid OAuth redirect URIs for my Facebook Login App. Sorry for this monkeying about with the wrong app.

Basically I am in the process of building a new version of the builder using Django rather than PHP. This wont be anytime in the near future but watch this space. Hopefully it will mean faster and easier fixes and upgrades along with user management.
